Amazon has announced an important policy update affecting US seller-fulfilled orders: the SAFE-T claim filing window will be reduced from 60 days to 30 days, effective February 16, 2026.

This change is designed to align SAFE-T claims with Amazon’s standard return timelines and A-to-z claim appeal periods.

What Is Changing?

Starting February 16, 2026:

  • SAFE-T claim window changes from 60 days → 30 days

  • Applies to US seller-fulfilled orders only

After the change takes effect, sellers will only have 30 days to file reimbursement claims for eligible issues.

When the 30-Day Window Starts

The new filing window depends on the type of issue:

  • Returned orders: starts from the later of

    • return delivery scan, or

    • refund date

  • Lost shipments: starts from the last tracking scan event

This ensures all claim timelines are tied closely to actual shipment and refund activity.

Why Amazon Is Making This Change

Amazon states the update aligns SAFE-T claims with:

  • standard US return window

  • A-to-z claim appeal timelines

  • faster claims resolution cycles

The goal is to streamline reimbursement processing and reduce delayed claims.

What Sellers Need to Do Before February 16

Amazon strongly recommends that sellers:

  • review claims older than 30 days

  • submit eligible SAFE-T claims before the deadline

  • audit past refunds and returns

  • ensure tracking data is complete for lost shipment claims

After the deadline, older eligible claims will no longer be accepted.

What Is NOT Changing

  • Existing claims already in progress will not be affected

  • Eligibility rules for SAFE-T claims remain the same

  • The update only impacts the filing time window

Final Thoughts

The reduction of the SAFE-T claim window to 30 days puts more pressure on seller-fulfilled merchants to monitor returns, refunds, and shipment issues more frequently.

Sellers relying on reimbursement protection should adopt a more proactive weekly review process to avoid missed claims.

This is a key operational change for Amazon sellers in 2026.
